Hi all,
I have been around for a while, but I thought I'd re-introduce myself, as the forum has relaunched.
I love the changes by the way.

Hi third
How are you, my old mate? Good to have you back in the forums. Your input is always welcome, especially now that we have had a relaunch.
Anyway, have been meaning to ask you, where does the name third come from?
Hello!
Hi third, welcome to the site!

Hello alanh!
Welcome to the forums and to the group.
I am sure that we can find some help for what you need here, why don't you start by telling us a little bit about your self and then you can post some specific questions so that we can help you better (you can create a new topic for this, it is easier for the rest of the board to see it)
Regards,
Felipe

Help at hand.
Hello Alan,
Welcome to our humble site.
I am quite good in Photoshop, although I tend to use the newer versions. That shouldn't be a problem though, because the basic principles and basic tools in Photoshop has not changed too much in the last few versions.
Just to be clear though are you using Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements?
Over the next few months we will be explaining the basics of Photoshop, starting with doing basic image correction, as well as explaining how the same effects can be achieved using the free image editing program called "Gimp".
In the mean time, though, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask (in the Photoshop section of the Digital Darkroom Forum) I'd be happy to help if I can.
hi all!
seem like it's my turn to introduce myself. Im bev, quite new to photography and been taking pictures just recently. Hope to learn from here.

In the mean time, happy snapping.

Hi all!
Just to introduce myself to the group and say hello.
Hello!
Hi Jeb,
Welcome to our humble forum.
You are most welcome to post or ask questions.
I have visited your site at http://jeb-photos.bookspace.fr/ and it looks very good. I was especially impressed by your colour portraits.
Just a quick note, Illustrated Photography is currently being upgraded, so there will be a lot of changes in the site to come.
Anyway, we would love to hear more about yourself.
And again, bonjour et bienvenue
Hi
Hello all,
I am new to this site and I am enjoying viewing all the wonderful photography.
Hoping to find new things to paint led me to photography and I really enjoy the instant images of digital photography.
I am certainly a novice to all the science of the camera, but I love the challenge of finding something to photograph and learning from the images I capture.
Hi Bernadette and
Hi Bernadette and welcome!
Like you say, one of the best things about digital photography is that you can review the pictures straight after taking it.
I will never forgot, in the days when I used to work on film, how nervous I would be that my pictures would not come out because I did something wrong.
Now that's largely a thing of the past.
That, of course, does not give us an excuse for not taking due care when we are shooting, for no matter how much magic you can create in photoshop, that will never be a substitute for good photography.
Anyway, I hope the forum and site will be useful.

Introduction
Hello.
John here, very newbie to digital SLR from point and shoot and needs all the help I can get from PP manipulation to the operation and proper use of my Canon 1000d so all help and assistance very much appreciated.
Hi John and welcome. I've
Hi John and welcome.
I've seen your face (the tabby) around.
Anyway, we're always glad to welcome a new member to the family.
Anyway, the Canon 1000D is a great little DSLR and if you are serious about improving your photography, the manual override functions will allow you to learn all the tips and secrets of the trade.
The step up from a compact to an SLR can be an intimidating one, but in the beginning, while you are still using it in full-auto, there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Of course, the real fun starts when you take the training wheels off and YOU tell the camera what to do.
This is what we focus on here at Illustrated Photography: teaching photographers how to make the camera do what they want it to.
PS. As you may note elsewhere in the forum, the site is currently undergoing a major upgrade. The NEW, IMPROVED Illustrated Photographey 2.0 will have more bells and whistles than a boxing match.
So watch this space...
Hello photographers
I'm fairly new to this site and am enjoying looking around at the wonderful, interesting work being produced by so many photographers.
I have entered some of my work in a few local art shows and have been lucky to be juried into them.
I began taking photographs because I was looking for things to paint and got hooked on the fun of photography. I'm not a very technical photographer....mostly see something I like and take a photo. Perhaps my technical skill will improve as will my "set up" skills.
